Jack Henry Mahaffey, 9 years old from Crowley, LA, had an unforgettable hunting experience at our lease near Addis, LA. We set up a ground blind along the edge of a swamp where we knew deer were moving. Around 4:45, Jack had the opportunity to take a shot at four does and a smaller 8-point buck, but we decided to let them walk and wait for “Big Daddy.”
With about 10 minutes of shooting light left, a beautiful 10-point buck came straight toward us at 75 yards. Jack got into position with a Remington 7mm and made a perfect shot, dropping the buck in its tracks. His first buck will be a tough one to beat!
