My first deer kill

My grandpa invited me to go hunting in Maurepas, and I gladly took him up on the offer. There were about ten of us, and we spread out along the swamp. I had some doubts going in since I wasn’t in a stand or anything—I was basically hunting blind. I walked in and sat in the V of a dead tree, waiting.

About 30 minutes later, out of nowhere, I spotted an eight-point buck followed by five does. My heart started pounding. As soon as the buck stopped and lifted his head, I took the shot and dropped him. The sound startled the does, and as they scattered, one charged straight at me. I quickly took another shot and dropped her too.

My first deer was a 190-pound, eight-point buck, and just seconds later, I had my second—a doe. An unforgettable hunt!
