NM Bull elk

The first chance I got to spend in NM was an epic hunt. With Camera gear, Muzzle loader and lots of weight to carry up a mountain I never knew what was in store. We slept on the ground night one next to the creek which sent chills down my spine as it was super cold but an awesome experience.

The next morning we woke to bugling bulls. After a few hour hike up the mountain we dropped gear at 11,000 ft. We climbed to 12,800 where the elk were feeding and waited out the bull. He played us four hours until the mistake happened where he followed a cow out and we connected at 90 yards with a CVA Accura LRX muzzle loader. The real work began after the high fives and emotions soared. We worked the elk and had to pack him down taking two full days. It was worth it.
