I went out at 10:30 pm. I choose my spot to stay the night until he showed up. I had done a fair amount of scouting, finding places he liked to frequent, looking for sign, tracking him to the property line, and seeing where he was going. So I felt that I knew just were to set up and then wait for just the right wind and weather conditions.
I stayed there for hours in the pitch black, questioning my decisions, lol. Finally, a little after 2am he came out about 150 yards away from me. I watched him a while so that I could learn a little of how he was moving through the area. He was scratching up against trees, rooting around, and just moving around without a care in the world.
He had no idea I was around. So, by that time I was all to ready to pull the trigger. I let it fly and was able to put it right through the pump house. I walked home about a half mile to get my 4 wheeler and drove out to get him and bring him back home. Then took care too process it quickly.
By the time I got everything done the sun had come up. I was so tired! I came in, took a shower, and headed to the bed just in time for my wife to wake up and get her day started. What a victory it was! Since then we have been enjoying wonderful pork fresh from the woods!
What could be better!
